The Role of Certifications in Human Resources Practices

The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) conducted an Executive Roundtable of high-level HR and property management executives—representing a collective 15,000 hotel properties and the breadth of the lodging industry—to discuss competency-based human resources practices and certifications in the lodging industry. The roundtable resulted in a white paper summarizing the findings, including the current landscape and future opportunities for moving to competency-based hiring practices in the industry. Additional case studies have been launched on the impact of using certifications and competency-based approaches on candidate preparedness, performance, and career growth.
