The National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) partnered to create a micro-credential at the intersection of apartment maintenance and clean energy. The micro-credential was created for the National Apartment Association (NAA)’s membership using IREC’s new blueprint for micro-credential development, designed to respond to pressing industry demand for additional credentialing options beyond full-scope certification using job task analysis. Micro-credentials can present a more affordable and efficient option for business organizations looking to build additional credentials that validate specific skills within their portfolio.
The pilot deployment of IREC’s micro-credential framework enabled testing and validation of a streamlined process for creating a rigorous, psychometrically-defensible credential. The pilot also provided NAA’s members, comprised of apartment managers, maintenance technicians, and multifamily building portfolio managers, with a career-enhancing opportunity to prove competency in a defined, specific skill-set required on the job. This pilot is a model for business organizations to provide just-in-time credentialing solutions for industry.
