Digital Credentialing

The Energy sector uses new methods to validate Foundational, High-Priority Skills

CEWD Digital Credential

The Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) is working on a digital credentialing initiative in which students will be issued one or more digital credentials in the highest priority skill areas of the energy industry. One digital credential validates foundational knowledge of the energy industry and one demonstrates the mastery of technical skills needed for entry-level positions. CEWD is leveraging the report written by colleague National Network-member, IREC, which concluded that digital credentials enable employers and others to see the representation of a credential, the criteria based upon which it was issued, evidence of attainment, issue and expiration dates, and an accurate description of the scope of the credential and its use in the market.
