Career Pathway Tool

Charting a Future in Precision Machining

The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) developed the NIMS Career Pathway Tool to support employers in their quest to adopt competency-based hiring practices. This tool is designed to help employers, job seekers and educators understand the numerous career pathways in the machining industry and what NIMS credentials really represent, describing which competencies they validate. The tool helps employers enhance hiring practices, develop better job postings and incorporate NIMS credentials into training operations. The tool also enables educators to design a curriculum that is aligned with industry standards students to translate their respective skill sets developed in their training programs.

Online Employer Portal

The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) developed a new online employer portal and video that provides concise information, tools and how-to guides to help employers learn about and implement industry-recognized credentials at their companies. The portal also includes resources on sourcing quality training programs and NIMS-certified talent; implementing industry-aligned training and credentialing within companies; and integrating NIMS skills standards and credentials into human resources practices.
